Re: History Of Automotive Engineering
The early history of the automobile can be divided into a number of eras, based on the prevalent means of propulsion. Later periods were defined by trends in exterior styling, size, and utility preferences In 1768, the first steam powered automobile capable of human transportation was built by Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot. In 1807, François Isaac de Rivaz designed the first car powered by an internal combustion engine fueled by hydrogen. In 1886 the first petrol or gasoline powered auto-mobile the Benz Patent-Motorwagen was invented by Karl Benz. The 70s The Industrial Technology (IT) Program is the grandfather of the Automotive Engineering Technology Program. Like most universities across the country, at Minnesota State University, Mankato, the closest thing to a degree in AET was a bachelor s degree in IT. The 80s As automotive design projects progressed to higher levels of sophistication and technology they required modern labs. The 90s and 2000s Politics, technology, and its terminology continued to change. The AET Program is now part of the Automotive and Manufacturing Engineering Technology (AMET) Department under Minnesota State University, Mankato s College of Science, Engineering and Technology.
