Heritage Institute of Technology is a type of private autonomous institute.
It was formed in the year 2001.
It is located in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
It is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology.
It is recognized by UGC, AICTE.
This institute is ranked among the top five engineering colleges in West Bengal.

Heritage Institute of Technology is built on the Heritage campus, located at Anandapur on the south-eastern fringes of Kolkata. Along with HITK, the campus also encompasses The Heritage School, Kolkata and The Heritage Academy, Kolkata.

The institute has 4 main buildings –
The ICT building which houses the Information Technology, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering departments,
The CME building houses the Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electrical Engineering departments,
The B Building houses Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering departments
The BCA Building is the house for the Bachelor of Computer Application, Master of Computer Application, Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration courses.
