Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission is conducts Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services Main Exam. Subjects for HAS Exam with subject code: Compulsory Subjects (English, Hindi, Essays & General Studies) Agriculture - 01 Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science - 02 Anthropology - 03 Botany - 04 Chemistry - 5 Civil Engineering - 06 Commerce & Accountancy - 07 Economics - 08 Electrical Engineering - 09 English Literature - 10 Geography - 11 Geology - 12 Hindi Literature - 13 Indian History - 14 Law - 15 Mathematics - 16 Mechanical Engineering - 17 Philosophy - 18 Physics - 19 Political Science & international Relation - 20 Psychology - 21 Public Administration - 22 Sanskrit - 23 Sociology - 24 Statistics -25 Urdu - 26 Zoology - 27 Management - 28 Forestry - 29 Horticulture - 30 Medical Science – 31 HPAS prelim exam syllabus : HPPSC HPAS prelim exam syllabus There will be 02 papers for HPAS (Preliminary) Examination, one is General Studies and another is of General Aptitude Test. Both the papers will be of 200 marks each containing 100 questions of multiple choice objective type and time duration will be of 02 hours. The syllabus has been adopted as per UPSC pattern and also includes questions on Himachal Pradesh and is given as under:- HPAS prelim exam syllabus: Paper –I General Studies (Code No.01) This paper shall be of 200 marks and there shall be 100 objective type (Multiple choice) questions from the syllabus of History, geography, political, art & culture and socio economic development of Himachal Pradesh. HPAS prelim exam syllabus: English Composition Question on English Composition will cover Synonyms, Antonyms, use of common Phrase & Idioms., use of appropriate Prepositions and Articles, Comprehension, Ordering of words in a sentence , Ordering of sentences, spotting of errors, use of appropriate and qualifying words etc. HPAS prelim exam syllabus: History of Modern India & Indian National Movement for the period 1857 to 1947 In History, emphasis will be on broad general understanding of the subject in its Social, Economic and Political aspects. • Questions on the Indian National Movement will relate to the nature and character of the Nineteenth Century resurgence, growth of Nationalism and attainment of Independence. • Pre‐historic events ‐Indus valley civilization‐Vedic, Aryan and Sangam age‐Maurya dynasty‐Buddhism and Jainism‐ Guptas, Delhi Sultans, Mughals and Marathas‐Age of Vijayanagaram and the bahmanis‐ • South Indian history‐Culture and Heritage of Tamil people‐Advent of European invasion‐Expansion and consolidation of British rule‐Effect of British rule on socio‐ economic factors‐ • Social reforms and religious movements‐India since independence‐ Characteristics of Indian culture. HPAS prelim exam syllabus : Geography, History & Culture of Tripura In Geography of Tripura, emphasis will be on its natural resources with special reference to its soil, forest, water and power. The period from 1857 to 1949 will be considered for setting question on History of Tripura. HPAS prelim exam syllabus : General Science and Environment Questions on General Science and Environment will cover general appreciation and understanding of science and environment including matters of everyday observation and experience along with general awareness of Information & Communication Technology as may be expected of a well-educated person who has not made a special study of any particular scientific discipline. HPAS prelim exam syllabus: Paper -II Aptitude Test (Code No.02): This paper shall be of 200 marks and in this paper there shall be 100 objective type (multiple choice) questions from the Comprehension, Interpersonal skills including communication skills, Logical reasoning and analytical ability, Decision making and problem solving, General mental ability, Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. – Class X level).English Language comprehension skills (Class X level).
