Sentence Correction, Critical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension.

Of these qustions approximately:

15 are Sentence Correction

14 are Critical Reasoning

12 are Reading Comprehension

Syllabus of Verbal GMAT Section

The GMAT verbal section contains the following question types:

1. Reading Comprehension: Reading Comprehension requires you to read a selection and then answer a number of questions about the content, tone, main idea, and structure of the passage.

2. Sentence Correction: Sentence Correction questions present you with a sentence that may or may not contain a grammatical error. You’ll have to select the choice that is free from mistakes and exhibits the greatest clarity and coherence.

3. Critical Reasoning: Critical Reasoning requires you to evaluate and understand the nature of various arguments, through identifying their conclusions, supporting evidence, and underlying assumptions.

Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA)

This is the first section of the GMAT and test takers need to finish this section in 30 minutes.

You need to write essays just as you would in your school days. Through AWA, B-schools assess your writing skills.

In the AWA section, GMAT looks for:

Your writing skills and abilities

Clarity and logic in your argument

Overall relevance of your essay with respect to the given topic

AWA is not counted towards the overall 200-800 score. Instead, the score range for AWA ranges from 0-6, with increments of 0.5.
