Financial Aid Tuition and Costs Loans Fellowships Scholarships Military and Veterans Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans US citizens and permanent residents may apply for fixed-rate Federal Direct Loans by completing a FAFSA. Federal Direct Loans carry a 5.84% fixed interest rate for loans disbursed July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016 with an origination fee of 1.073% (decreasing to 1.068% for loans disbursing on or after October 1, 2015). Federal Direct Loans are not need-based and do not require a credit check. Applicants can receive a maximum of $20,500 per academic year, which is $10,250 per semester. Veterans Tuition Awards (VTA) Veterans Tuition Awards (VTA) are offered to New York State residents who have served in the US Armed Forces and are currently veterans. Awards for 2015 - 16 are $6,370 for the academic year. Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 Accepted Applicants who have at least 90 days of active duty after September 10, 2001 may be eligible for this program. Interested parties may contact their local VA office for up to 36 months of education benefits. For 2015 - 16, the maximum award is $21,084.89. Applicants also may receive a monthly housing allowance and a stipend for books and supplies should they qualify.
