UPSC conducts Labor Officer/Assistant Labor Commissioner exam for the post of Assistant Labor Commissioner in government.

Eligibility Criteria

Age: Maximum 35 years and 40 years for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and 38 years for Other Backward Classes.

Educational Qualification:
• Degree of a recognized University or equivalent

• Diploma in Social Work/Labour Welfare/Industrial Relations/Personnel Management/Labour Law from a recognized University/Institution or equivalent

Syllabus:

The syllabus of the recruitment exam for the posts of Assistant Labour Commissioner is following:

(a) Trade Union Movement.
(b) Social Work & Social Security laws.
(c) Industrial Relations.
(d) Human Resource Development.
(e) Principal of Natural Justice.
(f) Trade Union Act.
(g) Labour Welfare.
(h) Labour Laws:
• Industrial Disputes Act, 1947
• Payment of Wages Act, 1936
• Minimum Wages Act, 1948
• Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act, 1970
• Child Labour (P&R) Act, 1986
• Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972
• Building & other Construction Workers (RE & CS) Act, 1996
i) Current Events.
j) Indian Constitution.
k) General Mental Ability.

if your mba is aicte approved and recognized by ugc approved university then you will be eligible for this exam.

The eligibility requirement and syllabus for the Post of - Assistant Labour Commissioner (Central) – Exam conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) are as follows:


Essential Qualifications

Educational

i Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.
ii Diploma in Social Work/Labour Welfare/Industrial Relations/Personnel Management/ Labour Law from a recognized University/Institution or equivalent.

The qualifications are relaxable at Commission’s discretion in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.


Age
Not exceeding 35 years as on normal closing date.
Not exceeding 40 years for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them.
Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/U.T. Government Servant up to 5 years as per instructions/orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time.


Pay Scale
Rs. 15,600-39,100 plus PB-3 Rs. 5,400 Grade Pay Total emoluments excluding T.A. and HRA at the time of initial appointment will be Rs. 36,000/- p.m. approximately


Desirable Qualifications
Degree in law from a recognized University


Duties
The CLS Officers discharge statutory functions in the Central Sphere under various Labour Enactments. Their main function includes prevention and settlement of Industrial disputes, enforcement of various Labour Laws and to establish harmonious relation between workers and management. These Officers are notified as Inspectors, Conciliation Officers and Appellate Authorities under the various Acts.


Syllabus of the Test:

The syllabus of the Test will broadly comprise the following topics:

1. Labour Welfare.
2. Social Work and Social Security Laws.
3. Industrial Relations.
4. Human Resource development.
5. Principles of Natural Justice.
6. Trade Union Act.
7. Trade Union Movement.
8. Labour Laws.
