Re: Eligibility Criteria for Tamil Nadu Engineering College
As per my knowledge there is nothing like NRI Quota for taking admission in Engineering College in Tamil Nadu through TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission). And as you have mentioned that you have done 10th from abroad and 12th from Tamil Nadu that means you have your basic eligibility for engineering i. e. 12th pass. TNEA Eligibility Criteria Passed class XII with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry as mandatory subjects and obtained 50% (Gen), 45% (Backward Class including Backward Class Muslim), 40% (MBC and DNC) or 35-40% (SC/ST/SCA). Sri Lankan Tamil Refugee candidates can also apply, but needed documents in support of the same at the time of counselling. Applicants who have been staying in Tamil Nadu from five years due to parents’ employment in public or private sector or those who have completed the last five years of their education (Class VIII-XII) within the state are eligible. Applicants who belong to Tamil Nadu but have completed the last five years of education from state other than Tamil Nadu can apply on submitting the Nativity Certificate. TNEA Selection Process Admission is given on the following factors: Categorical norms Percentage of marks in Mathematics and Physics Percentage of marks in fourth optional subject Date of Birth TNEA Reservation of Seats Open Competition – 31% Scheduled Caste – 15% Backward Class – 26.5% Most Backward Class and Denominated Communities – 20% Scheduled Tribes – 1% Backward Class Muslim – 3.5% Scheduled Caste (Aruynthathiyars) -3% |
