Eligibility Criteria for M Tech in IIT Kharagpur

Can you tell me about eligibility criteria for admission in M. Tech (Master in Technology) Program offered by IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Kharagpur?

The admission in M. Tech (Master in Technology) Program offered by IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Kharagpur is through more than one channel and eligibility criteria for each one of them vary.

GATE
One needs to have valid GATE scores of past three years to get admission at IIT Kharagpur for M. Tech programme.
The institute can decide to take admission either on the basis of only GATE scores of the candidate or conduct an interview or written test to be considered along with the GATE scores.
In case of interview or written test, 70% weightage will be given to GATE scores and 30% to interview.
The admission of candidates only on the basis of GATE scores will be called as direct admission.

Qualifying Exam
One who is applying for admission at IIT Kharagpur through their qualifying exam scores need to have at least 60% marks or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 pointer scale.
It is 55% or 6 CGPA for candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PD categories.
By qualifying exam, it means a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ M.Sc or equivalent professional degrees (AMIE etc.).

IIT Candidates
If one of M. Tech admission at IIT Kharagpur have completed their Bachelor's degree from any of the IIT's and have secured a CGPA or CPI of 8 and above at their undergraduate level, then one would be eligible for admission in the institution, without appearing in GATE
