Re: ECRI Institute EPC

ECRI Institute was founded in 1969. Here you are looking for EPC project on Chronic Renal Failure and Disability as you want here I am providing you.

Chronic Renal Failure and Disability

Overview
The purpose of this report is to evaluate the U.S. Social Security Administration's (SSA's) current Listing of Impairments ("Listings") for determining disability in individuals with chronic renal failure (CRF). Renal failure occurs when the kidneys lose their ability to filter wastes from the blood. It can occur as a result of chronic conditions such as primary kidney disease (e.g., glomerulonephritis), diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. Renal failure can also be acute, occurring from a sudden injury or illness, such as a blow to the abdomen, bacterial infection, or drug overdose.

Re: ECRI Institute EPC

ECRI Institute is an autonomous non-profit organization that researches
methods to improve patient care.

It was established in the year 1968.

It’s headquarter is located in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.

It is one of only 13 institutions/organizations considered as an Evidence-
based Practice Centre (EPC) by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

It has held this title since the beginning of the EPC Program in 1997.

In December 2014, ECRI Institute was given a new five-year contract for the
ECRI Institute-Penn Medicine EPC.

Under this new contract, ECRI Institute lingers its partnership with Penn
Medicine (the University of Pennsylvania Health System and the University of
Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine) and a woman-owned Small
Disadvantaged Business.

As an EPC, ECRI Institute-Penn Medicine develops evidence reports,
systematic reviews, and horizon scans, and assembles and conducts
technical expert panel meetings in maintenance of some of the reports.

Projects conducted under the EPC Program cover a breadth of health
circumstances, medical/ surgical treatments, health services, and medical
technologies.

These are used by clinicians, policymakers, health system leaders, and other
healthcare experts as a means to reinforce clinical recommendations and
inform coverage decisions.

It was one of the very first EPCs to develop a proportional effectiveness
review for AHRQ's Effective Health Care Program.

This program supports the work performed under Section 1013 of the 2003
Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act, which
allows AHRQ to conduct and support research with a focus on outcomes,
comparative clinical effectiveness, and appropriateness of devices,
prescription medications, diagnostic tests and healthcare services
