In Eckerd College one who does not hold US Citizenship or who do not hold a green card is considered international students. If one has dual citizenship with the United States and another country or if one is a US national studying in another country, one is considered a domestic student for application, admission and financial aid purposes. International Application Requirements If English is not first language or one have not been enrolled in an English-taught (or bilingual) program for secondary school, one must submit a TOEFL or IELTS score for admission. To meet Eckerd’s English proficiency requirements, one must have a score of at least 79 on the TOEFL internet-based exam or an overall band score of 6.5 or higher on the IELTS. Other ways to prove English proficiency are listed in the applying section. To meet Eckerd’s English proficiency requirements, one must have: TOEFL score of at least 213 computer-based or 550 written examination or 79 internet-based, OR IELTS overall band score of 6.5 or higher, OR Official Certificate of Completion of ELS Intensive English Level 112 at an ELS Language Center One who scores a minimum of 550 on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section of the SAT are exempt from taking the TOEFL. International students are not required to take the SAT or ACT. If English is not first language or have not been in an English-taught (or bilingual program) for secondary school, one is required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores. If English is first language or one has been in an English-taught (or bilingual) program for secondary school, one may submit a graded essay in English of at least 650 words.
