Re: Easy Subjects for IAS Mains
As you are asking about the easy subjects for IAS Mains exam let me tell you that every subject of IAS can become easy for you just only you need to make your mind a bit larger just do hard work and it all depends on your interest the subject on which you will have interest you will opt that and should opt that as per me For a different candidate, this optional subject is different. There is a list of subjects included in the optional subject list of the mains exam pattern, Agriculture Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science Anthropology Botany Chemistry Civil Engineering Commerce and Accountancy Economics Electrical Engineering Geography Geology History Law Management Mathematics Mechanical Engineering Medical Science Philosophy Physics Political Science and International Relations Psychology Public Administration Sociology Statistics Zoology Here below I am mentioning in brief the nature of the optional subjects you like and their respective merits and demerits in Civil Services Exam. You can only choose one between Pub Ad and Pol Sc. 1) Political Science It is an interesting subject and helps a lot in General Studies. If you’ll look at the syllabus of Political Science closely, you’ll find that many of its sections overlap with the syllabus of General Studies. They include: Indian Polity & Governance and Polity (of GS(P) and GS (M) – Paper I), India & the World (of GS (M) Paper II), and International Affairs and Institutions (of GS (M) Paper II). These areas do have a lot of weight in GS Mains. On top of that, Political Science will also help in the Essay paper as every year at least 1 topic comes from Political Science. 2) Public Administration Public Ad also has overlap with the syllabus of GS but lesser when compared to Pol Sc. Pub Ad helps in the Indian Constitution/Polity sections (of GS (P) and (M)) . And, Pub Ad has lesser syllabus when compared to Pol Sc. If you have interest in Political Science then certainly keep it as an optional. It is interesting, successful (good conversion rate) and a relevant subject (relevant in the overall scheme of the examination). 3) History Modern Indian History section is also part of General Studies syllabus which makes History optional complimentary in nature with the overall scheme of the examination. History is a non-dynamic subject where information never changes and the questions asked are pretty straight forward. If you can memorize content then this will be a good subject for you. 4) Sociology Sociology is a social science that studies the functionality of human society including origins, development, and organization (or in other words the social characteristics of human society/culture). Simply, the subject deals with the society. It helps in ‘Issues of Social Relevance’ section of the General Studies paper and also helps in the Essay paper (about 2-3 topics in the essay paper come from Sociology stream). 5) Geography is a conceptual subject by nature and therefore opted by a lot of students from science background. The syllabus is slightly lengthy Geography is a good choice as well. |
