Dravidian University, Kuppam was established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, through a Legislature Act (No. 17 of 1997). The university, which formally came into existence in 1997, began functioning with two departments in 1998 and has today grown into a strong institution of 20 academic departments and 6 research centres.
