Directorate of Distance Education Maulana Azad National Urdu University was founded in 1998 and it operates on the premise of propagating Urdu and reaching the unreached.

It has nine Regional Centers of Directorate of Distance Education

New Delhi, Bangalore, Patna, Darbhanga, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bhopal, Srinagar and Ranchi

Six Sub-Regional Centres:
