The syllabus of M. A. English Entrance Question Paper of Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) as I want to prepare for the exam is as follows:

The Question paper will have common Part A and subject specific Part B

Part A: is designed to test the general level of the students’ awareness, and reasoning and analytical skills.

The scheme is as follows: Multiple choice questions 35 (1x35=35 marks) to test general awareness.

Duration – 35 Minutes

Part B: is designed to gauge their proficiency in grammar, English literature, and Literary forms. (65 marks)

Duration 85 minutes

Syllabus/ Topics for Subject Specific Part B:

The scheme is as follows:
1) Grammar: To test the knowledge of the basic rules of grammar ten sentences for correction.
2) Objective type questions (ten out of fifteen)
3) Two short essays (out of ten) on literary topics
4) One three-hundred word essay out of fifteen questions on literary topics.
5) Two questions out of seven on literary forms.
6) A poem for comprehension
