The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) had agreed to a proposal of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) for adopting six monuments under the Campaign Clean India, stated a PIB release. About the campaign of ONGC This initiative is part of ONGC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The six monuments are Taj Mahal, Agra; Ellora Caves and Elephanta Caves, Maharashtra; Red Fort, Delhi; Golkonda Fort, Hyderabad and Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu. List of monuments The six monuments are Taj Mahal, Agra; Ellora Caves and Elephanta Caves, Maharashtra; Red Fort, Delhi; Golkonda Fort, Hyderabad Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu To expedite the process, MoT has taken up the matter with Archeological Survey of India (ASI) to work out details of various activities, cost estimates, identification of executive agencies and nomination of nodal officers for each monument. Campaign Clean India, an awareness and sensitisation campaign by the MoT has been launched as part of the initiatives for tourism in the 12th Five Year Plan. The Campaign seeks to bring together media, government departments, NGOs, academia and the stakeholders of the travel industry and encourage active participation for promoting cleanliness initially at tourist spots and ultimately, throughout the country. |
