ICAI or Institute of Chartered Accountant of India conducts Chartered Accountancy course. The minimum qualification required for admission in Chartered Accountancy course are as follows:

10+2 or equivalent qualification from a recognized board

One can register for the course when studying in 12th.

After registration for the course you can apply for the 1st level of CA i.e. CPT (Common Proficiency Test)

After qualifying the CPT you will have to qualify the 2nd level of CA which is
IPCC examination (Integrated Professional Competence Course)

There are two Groups in IPCC.

First you will have to qualify Group-I of IPCC. (It is a 9 months course).

After that you will have to go for 3 years of Practical Training (Articleship) under a qualified CA. You can take the Group-II exam of IPCC during the training or after completion of that.

Once you qualify both the group of IPCC then you can join the CA Final course.

After passing CA final course examination you will complete CA course.

CA programme is of two years apart from the training period. It has three sections, Professional Education (PE-I), Professional Education (PE-II) and Final examination.

Professional course I:-
Paper 1- Fundamentals of Accounting
Paper 2 - Mathematics & Statistics
Paper 3 - Economics
Paper 4 - Business Communication and Organization and Management

Professional Education Course-II & Final Course:-
The CA Programme is mainly divided into Professional Education Course II and Final course. After completing the Professional Education Course I or graduation with required marks can go for Professional Education Course II .

Professional Education course-II:-

Group I
Paper 1 - Accounting
Paper 2 - Auditing
Paper 3 - Business and Corporate Laws

Group II
Paper 4 - Cost Accounting and Financial Management
Paper 5 - Income Tax & Central Sales Tax
Paper 6 - Information Technology

Final Course:-

Group I
Paper 1 - Advanced Accounting
Paper 2 - Management Accounting & Financial Analysis
Paper 3 - Advanced Auditing
Paper 4 - Corporate Laws & Secretarial


Group II
Paper 5 - Cost Management
Paper 6 - Management Information and Control Systems
Paper 7 - Direct Taxes
Paper 8 - Indirect Taxes

Fee Structure

The fee structure for the full CA course is as under. Rs. 1500 is to be paid for the registration of the CPT or the Common Proficiency Test, which is the prerequisite to enter any CA institute.

After qualifying the CPT, the student needs to pay the tuition fee to the institute which is a total of Rs. 7500, which includes Rs. 500, for registration as an audit clerk, Rs. 500 as the student associations’ fee, Rs. 500 as the registration fee with BOS, Rs. 4000, as tuition fee for PCC, and Rs. 2000 for the registration fee for 100 hrs of IT Training.

After qualifying the second stage, the final course fee is Rs. 8500 which is to be paid for the last year of the CA studies. The total fee for the whole course comes to Rs. 17,500. There are no other institutes which provide the CA studies in India excepting the Institute of Chartered Accountants in India or the ICAI.
