CFP stands for Certified Financial Planner. It is the world’s most widely respected financial planning designation. Please provide me the details of the Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning course offered by the Institute of bankers which in turn assist to become a CFP as I plan to take up a career as CFP?

CFP (Certified Financial Planner) is the world’s most extensively respected financial planning designation. Holders of the Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning are invited to complete the Certification Examination of FPSB Ireland to accomplish the international CFP designation.

The Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning is planned for those working in, or who would like to develop a career in, financial planning and wealth management and want to ensure that they have the requisite knowledge and skills at an international standard to support their career as a financial planning professional.

This programme will provide you with the knowledge and skills required for a career as professional financial planner.

It will assist you with:

Enhancing the knowledge of the constituent disciplines underpinning financial planning including investments, pensions, taxation and estate planning.
Build up the analytical, problem solving and decision making skills to produce comprehensive financial planning solutions.
Appraise economic, financial and other relevant data to create integrated financial plans.
Endorse a deep understanding of professional values and ethical issues in financial planning execution.
Set up for the Certified Financial Planner™ designation qualifying examination.

Course Curriculum:

Principles and Ethics of Personal Financial Planning (NFQ Level 9, 10 ECTS)
Tax and Estate Planning (NFQ Level 9, 10 ECTS)
Retirement Planning (NFQ Level 9, 10 ECTS)
Asset Management (NFQ Level 9, 10 ECTS)
Financial and Risk Management (NFQ Level 9, 10 ECTS)
Integrated Personal Financial Planning (NFQ Level 9, 10 ECTS)

Award
When one successfully completes the six modules of this programme, they will be awarded the Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning (level 9) from UCD.

Entry requirements
The minimum entry requirements for the programme are:

Applicable Honours business degree; or
corresponding relevant professional qualification (e.g.) Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA), with three years relevant work experience obtained in the banking or financial services industry, AITI Chartered Tax Advisers (CTAs), accountants, solicitors and barristers.
Applicants should also have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel before starting on the programme.

Exemptions
Holders of the AITI Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualification be eligible for an exemption from the Tax and Estate Planning module.
