Yes, B Tech in Civil Engineering can sit for Common Admission Test (CAT). To be more precise, I am providing you the details of the exams:

CAT Eligibility Criteria - Minimum Qualification Required

Bachelor degree –
Bachelor degree in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2/Post B.Sc./Post Diploma) or B.E/B. Tech equivalent exams, of Professional Societies, recognized by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institution of Engineers-India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers India).

Equivalent to Bachelor degree –
Any Qualification recognized by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi which is equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree awarded by UGC recognized University/Institutions.

One must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PWD) categories].

One appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.

CAT 2016 Notification:-

Release of Advertisement - 31st July 2016 (Sunday)

Apply online at website:- from 08th August 2016 to 22nd September 2016.

Admit Card Download Window - 24th October 2016, 1:00 PM till Exam Date

CAT 2016 Date:- 04th December 2016 (Sunday)

Release of Results - 2nd week of January 2017 (Tentative)


Paper Pattern

Exam Mode:- Computer Based Test (CBT)

The duration of the examination will be 180 minutes. There will be three sections:

Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
Section III: Quantitative Ability

For questions other than MCQs, 3 marks are assigned for ‘correct answer’ and no marks for ‘incorrect answer or no attempt'.

The scoring scheme for Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) is as follows:

Each correct answer is awarded 3 marks.
An incorrect answer fetches -1.

No marks are given or deducted for unattempted questions.

One is allotted exactly 60 minutes for answering questions in each section and they cannot switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section.
