The Graduate Management Admission Test or GMAT is designed to test the skills necessary for success in graduate management programmes such as an MBA.It is what is known as a power test.

It aims to assess one’s maximum reasoning ability and it does so using sophisticated computer algorithms, which respond to the answers one has previously given. It is a 'computer adaptive test' to evaluate the differences between candidates, as it allows candidates to reach the maximum reasoning ability more quickly.
