Bangalore University is a public state university located in city of Bangalore in the state of Karnataka, India. The university is one of the oldest in India. Bangalore University is accredited by NAAC under the new grading system with a grade A. The University is a part of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and affiliated by University Grants Commission (UGC). LLM Entrance exam- The admission of candidates shall be on the basis of marks secured in the entrance test and qualifying examinations (3/5/year LL.B) Mode of Entrance Test: The entrance test for admission shall be conducted centrally at P.G. Department of Studies and Research in Law, University Law College. There shall be 50 multiple choice questions (each carrying two marks) The duration of the entrance test is 75 minutes. The pattern for the entrance test shall be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) There shall be one paper in the entrance test carrying 100 marks. Paper shall consist of the following components: i) aptitude for teaching/research ii) legal reasoning and comprehension/basic knowledge; iii) Syllabus for the entrance test shall be as published from time to time The medium of language shall be English only The marks of candidates secured in the Entrance Test are valid for that examination only. Syllabus- 1. i) Aptitude for teaching/research ii) Legal reasoning and comprehension/basic knowledge 2 Legal Theory: Nature and Sources of Law Positivism, Natural Law Theory, Sociological Jurisprudence Theories of Punishment Rights and Duties Concepts of Possession and Ownership 3 Constitutional Law of India: Preamble Fundamental Rights and Duties Directive Principles of State Policy Writ Jurisdiction Union- state Relations Emergency Provisions Amendment of the Constitution. 4 Public International Law: Nature of International Law and its relationship with Municipal Law Sources of International Law United Nations Recognition of States and Governments Settlement of Intenational Disputes Human Rights 5 Law of Crimes: General Principles Nature and Definition of Offence General Exceptions Common Intention and Common Object Criminal Attempt, Conspirary and Abetment Offences against Women Cyber Crimes. 6 Law of Contracts: General Principles Essentials of Valid contract Offer, Acceptance and consideration Capacity to contract: Minor’s contract Elements vitiating contract: Mistake, Fraud, misrepresentation, Public Policy, Coercion, undue influence, frustration of contrat Remedies for breach of contract: Damages 7 Human Rights: International Human Rights Laws Human Rights Regime in India Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 Judicial contribution to promote and preserve Human Rights 8 Environmental Law: International Environmental Laws Environment Regime in India Environment Protection Act, 1986 Water Act, Air Act, Wild Life Protection Act Judicial contribution to develop environmental Jurisprudence 9 Labour Law: Concepts: Industry, Industrial Dispute and Workman Trade Union: Rights and Immunities of Registered Trade Union: Registration and its advantages Methods for settlement of Industrial Disputes under Industrial Disputes Act,1947 Strike and Lockout as Instruments of Collective Bargaining Retrenchment, Lay-off and Closers.
