Unit II: Research Design: Meaning, need and important features, types & steps. Selection and formulation of research problem. Research Question & Hypothesis: Nature & role in Tourism Research.Sampling design: sampling Techniques or methods, sample design and choice of sampling techniques, sample size, sampling & non-sampling errors. Measurement and scaling techniques: Measurement in research, measurement scales, tests of sound measurement, techniques of developing measurement tools, scaling, meaning, classification, and its techniques. Unit III: Data collection: Sources of data required, methods of colleting primary data, observation, interviews method, Focus group, Delphi technique, the questionnaire, mail survey, projective techniques simulation vs. experimentation. Reliability and validity techniques for tool: Chronbach alpha, face validity, test validity, content validity, construct validity and other type of validity. Unit IV: Data processing: Introduction, editing of data, classification and coding of data, transcription, tabulation, graphical presentation of data. Data analysis: Frequency distribution, Measure of central tendency and Variation Correlation and Regression analysis Probability and Probability distribution: Probability: Meaning Definition and sample points and ample space Events: Conditional; probability, Baves Theorem and probability on large sample space Probability distributions: The binomial model, the Poisson model ad Normal Distribution.
