Re: AP Summer Institute Human Geography

Basically the AP and Pre-AP Summer Institutes are subject-specific professional development opportunities. To their students and AP Summer Institute is affiliated to The University of Texas at Austin America which offers the Human Geography in which they teach us how males and females interact socially, communicate with one another

Some of the goals of this program are as follows

Identifying the skills and concepts necessary for successfully teaching an AP Human Geography course

Focusing on specific curriculum topics through the use of critical reading, document analysis, essay writing and assessments

Instructing students to think geographically, spatially and conceptually across the APHG curriculum.

Understanding and applying the broad themes that link the course together.

Participants should bring the following:

Human Geography textbook that you use
Samples of globalization materials appropriate for the AP level
2 gig jump drive for materials for you or set up a drop box account at dropbox.com
Questions and ideas that work for you and your students

Classes are as follows

Lesson 1: Mapping Gendered Spaces
Lesson 2: Measuring Fertility: Demographic Indicators and Economic Development in China
Lesson 3: The World's Women 2010: Trends and Statistics
Lesson 4: Women in Agriculture
Lesson 5: Sustainable Voices
