Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is an Indian public central university. It was originally established by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan as Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College in 1875.

The Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College became Aligarh Muslim University in 1920
