Re: Amrita University Dress Code
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary research academia that is accredited 'A' by NAAC and is ranked as one of the best research institutions in India. It is spread across 5 campuses in three states of India - Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, with the headquarters at Ettimadai, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It continuously collaborates with top US universities including Ivy League Universities and top European Universities for regular student exchange programs, and has emerged as one of the fastest growing institutions of higher learning in India. It is managed by the Mata Amritanandamayi Math. Amrita University Dress Code Yes. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is fairly strict about the way students dress. It is imperative that all students dress modestly and abide by the customs and norms observed by the institution. Jeans, short tops, short shorts, short skirts, tank tops, overly tight clothes, or torn clothes are not allowed to be worn by male or female students. While recognising that personal tastes and styles may vary considerably, the university has established a dress code which all students are expected to the purpose of these guidelines is not to dictate strict conformity or to create oppressive restrictions. They are designed, rather, to encourage standards of modesty appropriate to a campus life at an educational institution and standards of personal appearance that will be expected for many students in their chosen professions. Students should be aware that individual faculty or departments might adopt additional standards for dress/appearance, particularly when students are representing the university in internship or placement opportunities, or for laboratories or on university affiliated trips. Mature attitudes of respect and cooperation are expected in following any such guidelines. Students shall wear their full uniform on all days except Wednesdays and Saturdays and for all campus events. On civil dress days boys shall wear pants and shirt and girls shall wear sari or churidhar. Uniforms should strictly conform to the pattern specified. Tucking out the shirt and rolling up the shirt sleeves are not permitted. IDs should be worn (around the neck) on all days. Apparel with provocative/suggestive language, or inappropriate advertising, is prohibited. Wearing clothing that is torn, or has holes (even if unintentional), is not permitted. Hair should be kept clean, well groomed and modestly styled. The Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities |
