The Allahabad University has a Psychology Department. The Department of Psychology is an Center of Advanced Study In Psychology since 1984, was started in 1961.

It has been recognized as the prime department of Psychology in the subcontinent and has the large history of research and publications to back its reputation.

The Philosophy Department has University Grants Commission (U.G.C.) for a psychology laboratory and an additional post of Professor of Psychology.
