All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi was established in 1956 as an autonomous institution through an Act of Parliament, to serve as a nucleus for nurturing excellence in all aspect of health care.

Kerala has identified four locations fit for establishing an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the State and the list of these locations is being sent to the Union Health Ministry,
