The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are a group of autonomous public medical colleges of higher education in India. These are declared by Act of Parliament as institutions of national importance.

It was established with an objective to develop certain patterns of teaching in undergraduate and post-graduate medical to prove a high standard of medical education in India.
