The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are a group of autonomous public medical colleges of higher education.

AIIMS have been declared by Act of Parliament as institutions of national importance.

AIIMS were announced to be set up in Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, 2 in Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Bihar.
