Re: AFSB Indian Air Force

Air Force Selection Board or AFSB is the board responsible for selecting officers of Indian Airforce.

Applicants desires to join the IAF as an officer , have to appear before the board for interview.

Interview at AFSB consists of tests to check personality, comprises of physical fitness, psychology, general awareness etc.

There are four AFSB boards in India. These are in Dehradun, Mysore, Gandhinagar and Varanasi.

Thus AFSB is the body which takes interview for recruiting officers into the Indian Airforce.

Selection Procedure :

The testing in AFSB is done in two stages.

Applicants qualify in stage one testing are retained for the next five days.

Stage I constitutes of PPDT and OIR Tests and Stage II of Psychological Tests, GT series and a Personal Interview.

Then stage 1 testing is done, results are declared by afternoon

The remaining candidates are tested for the stage two testing.

Day 1: Phase 1- Officer Intelligence Rating and Picture Perception & Discussion Tests.

Day 2: Psychological Tests and PABT for Flying Branch applicants

Day 3: Group Tests/ Interviews

Day 4: Group Tests/ Interviews

Day 5: Group Tests/ Interviews

Day 6: Group Tests/ Interviews, Board Conference

Life in AFSB:


The candidates in AFSB are provided with free fooding and lodging and free travelling allowance

Taking any mobile phone or camera is not allowed in the center.

There are different types of indoor and outdoor games which applicants can play in their free time, ranging from Table Tennis, chess carom, Pool to cricket, volleyball, basketball etc.
