For admission in M Sc Physics at top institutes of India you need to give Joint Admission Test (JAM). This exam is conducted for Admission to M. Sc Two-Year and other programs at Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) & IISc.

Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc) and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) conduct the Joint Admission Test for M Sc.

After clearing IIT JAM you will be eligible to get admission in postgraduate programs of the following top colleges:

1. Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar (IITBBS)
2. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB)
3. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD)
4. Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN)
5. Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG)
6. Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH)
7. Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IITI)
8. Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK)
9. Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IITKgp)
10. Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM)
11. Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR)
12. Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IITPR)

Eligibility Criteria:

First class for Un‐Reserved/OBC category candidates and second class (as declared by the University) or 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off, for SC/ST and PwD category candidates in the qualifying degree

For IIT Guwahati:
(a) 55% marks or 6.0 CPI in a scale of 10, or

(b) 60% aggregate marks or 6.5 CPI in a scale of 10

For all other IITs:
55% aggregate marks, without rounding off for Un‐Reserved/OBC Category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off for SC/ST and PwD Category candidates.


Admission Procedure:
Admission will be made on the basis of all India merit list of JAM 2015 and then short listed candidates will additionally have to appear for an interview.

Commencement of Online Registration and Application Process: 03rd Sept 2014
Last Date for Payment of Fee through Challan: 30th Sept 2014
Closure of Online Application Procedure: 09th October 2014
JAM 2015 Examination: 08th February 2015
Announcement of JAM 2015 Results: 19th March 2015

As you say that you want to take admission in the M Sc Physics. Here I am providing you its Admission Procedure. This is as follows:

Eligibility

The Students who will be completing B.Sc. with Honours/Major in Physics during the current academic year or who have completed during the previous year, with at least 60% marks in the Honours/Major Subject from any university approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) are eligible to apply.

The SC/ST candidates will enjoy 5% concession in the minimum eligibility of marks.

You should also need to appear in one of the Entrance Exams. These are as follows:
