The Indian Law Institute is a Deemed University and socio-legal research institute, founded in 1956. Established in New Delhi, primarily with the objective of promoting and conducting legal research, education and training.


Broad Objectives of the Institute


cultivate the science of law, and promote advanced studies and research in law and its administration;

promote the reform of administration of justice and of law and its health/development suitable the social, economic and other needs of the people;


promote the clarification, simplification and systematization of law;

encourage and conduct investigations in legal and allied fields;

promote the diffusion of the knowledge of law and its administration and
principles on which they are based;

promote the improvement of legal education, and impart instruction in law
and allied fields;

publish studies, treatises, books, periodicals, reports and other literature
relating law and allied fields;

undertake documentation of important legal and allied materials;

institute and maintain libraries;

cooperate with other societies, institutions and organizations, national and
international, in the pursuit of all or any of the above objects;

constitute or cause be constituted regional offices at convenient centers in
India promote the activities of the Institute.
