Introduction:-
Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute is the oldest premier research institute in the area of inland fisheries research and training in India. CIFRI was established by the Govt. of India in 1947 at Kolkata. CIFRI came under the administrative control of Indian Council of Agricultural Research in October 1967. CIFRI Institute conducted its research efforts towards understanding the ecology and production functions of inland water bodies available in the country like a river, ponds, and tanks
CIFRI provides services to the scientists, technical and research fellows of the headquarters and centers apart from research students, teachers, students and officials from other systems.
