Vijaya Bank, was launched on 23rd October 1931 by late Shri A.B.Shetty and additional innovative farmers in Mangalore, Karnataka The aim of the collapses was basically to encourage banking habits, thrift and entrepreneurship among the farming community of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka State. It became a scheduled bank of India in 1958. Vijaya Bank is also one of the very few banks in India that has principal VISA International and MasterCard International membership.
