The University Of Lucknow Department Of Commerce is a pioneering institution which has made a niche for itself in academic excellence ever since its inception in 1921 University of Lucknow was in 1941 – 42 that the postgraduate degree, M.Com was instituted with the first batch of 22 students.

The University Of Lucknow Department Of Commerce to grow, led to the introduction of Ph. D. Programme in the department in the year 1944–45 and the first Ph. D. Degree was awarded in 1946 to Late Prof. K.C. Sarkar – a former Dean of the Faculty of Commerce.
