The Institute of Distance teaching, began in 1976 as a teaching and research department of the University of Kerala, is one of the opening up centre of distance learning in the state. The Institute is placed in the University campus, at Kariavattom, fourteen kilometers away from the city of Thiruvananthapuram, in the Thiruvananthapuram – Kollam route.
