The institution of the university was conducted by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Act of 1994.Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences is situated in Bangalore. The institution is called after former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi. About 276 colleges in the state, guiding like courses, were connected by Rajiv Gandhi University, in order to attain uniform criteria in academics and organization. The university has been sanctioned by University Grant Commission (UGC), but is not provided by UGC grants.
