NC [North Carolina] State University furnishes access to quality, well-rounded educational chances for a diverse student population. Distance Education (DE) programs and courses extend the university’s land grant mission. There are presently over 300 DE program provided on a rotating basis and 48 distance education degrees, certificates, lateral entry or teacher licensure programs, and discipline differentiations provided in a variety of subjects. NC State provides undergraduate and graduate Distance Education program in a wide variety of subject fields. These programs carry academic credits that can be transferred to degree programs at NC State or at other colleges or universities. Despite their varied backgrounds and interests DE students share a common object: to overcome limitations of time or location through using DE options in pursuit of their educational goals.
Over 9,000 students enroll in distance education program every year. DE students enroll for a variety of reasons. NC State’s Distance Education program furnishes learning chances to students wherever they are situated. Above 300 DE program and 50 DE graduate degrees, undergraduate degrees, certificates, teacher licensure, and subject specialists are provided in a variety of disciplines. Some seek to update job abilities or develops for a new future. Others may be situated abroad, as deployed military personnel or international students. Many students must manage their time strategically as they balance studies with work, family, and other life responsibilities.
