Its primary objective was to government and non-government personnel carry out research and impart advice on matters about the conservation of wildlife resources. It was given complitely liberty in 1986. above the years the institute has developed and expanded its academic and training programs. Both Master of Science and PhD level program are available at the institute. There are also wildlife studies based short program on offer. its not offered MBA program but it offered Postgraduate Diploma in Wildlife Management is equal to MBA
