NLSIU (National Law School of India University) Bangalore is an independent institution with a Deemed University position from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has been sanctioned by the Bar Council of India (BCI). The foundation of National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bangalore was laid by Dr. N.R. Madhava Menon, in 1987. Initially, the classes of NLSIU were held in the premises of the Central College, Bangalore University. In the year 1992, the institute shifted to its own premises at the present address.
