About the IITM
Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM). In the first years, along with the IMD, the Institute functioned below the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, but after in 1985, The demand to study the fundamental atmospheric troubles and understand the mechanism of monsoon, weather organizations and mood linked procedures in the tropical region, especially over the monsoon region, became acute for India in 1950’s when the nation’s post Independence economic development program was established.
