The GRSE Kolkata (Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd Kolkata) was established in the year of 1884 as a small factory on the Eastern Bank of the river Hooghly. The company was incorporated as a Company under the Indian Companies Act of 1913. The Indian Govt. was taken over the company on 1/04/1960.

GRSE Kolkata is among the guiding shipyards in India and the prime yard in the East. It builds a wide range of ships from advanced Warships to sophisticated Commercial Vessels, from little Harbour Craft to fast and strong Patrol Vessels.

Baranagar Unit of GRSE Kolkata is entirely a Technical Training Center; one of the guiding ISO 9001, 2000 registered Training Center in Eastern India. This Center is totally busy in giving and arranging training to the trainees of several categories.
