St. Xavier’s College, a catholic institution, was affiliated to the University of Bombay in 1869. The college grants degrees in arts, science and commerce. The college has lately been highly understood by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council for its excellent educational achievements. The Saint Xavier’s College has been named after a Jesuit Saint of the 16th Century, St Francis Xavier who moved to India throughout that period. Ever since its inception the emphasis has been on critical and creative thinking in order to bring up well-educated individuals. The college seeks to carry all round education to the students by the encouragement of human measures and laws. The emphasis is also on formulating the students from the marginalized sections of the society.
