About the Sailors
Sailors are the sepoys of the Indian Navy who are responsible for operating and maintaining propulsion machinery, weapons, sensors etc.

Sailors in the Navy are imparted with requisite training at various intervals during their service.

They are liable to serve anywhere in India, on board ships and Submarines or abroad as deemed necessary by the service.

Sailors are recruited in the Indian Navy in various capacities:

Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR)
Matric Recruit (MR)
Non-Matric Recruit (NMR)
Musician (MUS)
Sports Entry
Artificer Apprentices (AA)

Work Profile

The Branch and trade structure allotted to sailors are :

Executive
As a sailor of the executive branch, one will be involved with operating the state-of-art weapons, navigational systems, communication sets, diving equipment et

Electrical
As an electrical sailor, one have the responsibility of upkeep and maintenance of all electrical, electronics and weapons equipment of the Navy

Engineering
The sailor of Engineering branch are technicians and highly trained mechanics who pride themselves on keeping propulsion & auxiliary system running smoothly be it the engines, the weapon system, the aircraft or the machinery systems.

Aviation
Aviation branch comprises of specialist sailors who are trained to maintain and handle different type of aircraft operating in the Navy- whether onboard ship or ashore.

Submarine
Those who have exclusive challenge of operating below the surface of the oceans in the highly technical, powerful submarines can join as sailors of Submarine branch
