UPSC organizes the exam of Indian Forest Service Officer every year for the post of Forest officer.

Forest officer is a reputed job with attractive pay scale.

There work is to save the forest and wild life and maintain the forest areas in country.

The forest officers stop illegal wood cutting, and any damage of wild animal life.

They also save the people who live nearby forest form wild animal who wandered.

A forest officer can take strict action against the person who breaches the rules of forest.

After clearing IFS exam candidates can be appointed in any district.

An IFS officer is largely independent of district administration and exercises administrative, judicial and financial powers in their own domain

Deputations

As per Rule 6 of the Indian Forest Service (Cadre) Rules, 1966 deputation of IFS officers broadly falls into two categories:

Central Deputation
State Deputation

For Central Deputation, there are two schemes devised for the purpose of regulating appointments in Government of India and organisations under its control.

Non-Central Staffing Scheme
