When to Apply for IAS Exam

When the UPSC will release advertisement for recruitment for the post of IAS? I have done B.Tech + MBA. Now I want to apply for this Examination. So I am waiting for its official recruitment. Can some one provide me expected dates for IAS Exam of UPSC and also provide the procedure to apply online.

Indian Administrative Service is one of the prestigious services among the 24 services like IPS, IFS etc for the which the UPSC conduct Civil Services Examination (CSE) for selecting the candidates.

An officer selected into the Indian Administrative Service gets exposure in very diverse roles like the collector, commissioner, head of public sector units, chief secretary, cabinet secretary etc.

The first stage of the exam Preliminary (objective) is usually conducted around June, while the second stage, Mains (written), is conducted around October.

Those who clear Mains will have to face interview/personality test during the March-May period.

The final result usually comes in June.

Number of attempts:
Restriction on the maximum number of attempts is effective since 1984:
For General Candidates: 7 attempts (Up to 32 Years)
Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Candidates (SC/ST): No Limits (Up to 37 Years)
Other Backward Classes (OBC): 9 attempts (Up to 35 Years)
Physically handicapped- 9 attempts for general and OBC, while unlimited for SC/ST
