Re: What is a CCNA course?

CCNA stands for Cisco Certified Network Associate. It is an IT certification computer networking from Cisco. CCNA certification is a second (associate) level Cisco Career certification. Cisco created the CCNA to recognize basic competency in installation and support of medium-sized networks. CCNA certification can be obtained by passing a single 90-minute written exam. That exam will not have any prerequisites.

CCNA exam include
LAN and WAN design (including the OSI model)
IP addressing
routers and routing protocols (including OSPF, EIGRP and RIP)
VLAN (virtual LAN) and WLAN (wireless LAN)
network security and management (including ACLs)

The CCNA remains valid for three years when any re-certification is required. Cisco also offers more advanced certifications for networking professionals beyond CCNA, including the CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) and CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert).

To receive the CCNA certification, one must pass either:
The ICND1 Exam (100-101) and the ICND2 (200-101)
The combined CCNA Exam (200-120)

Syllabus:
The ICND1 covers "Network Types, Network Media, Switching Fundamentals, TCP/IP, IP Addressing and Routing, WAN Technologies, Operating and Configuring IOS Devices, and Managing Network Environments."

The ICND2 covers "Extending Switched Networks with VLANS, Determining IP Routes, Managing IP traffic with Access Lists, Establishing Point-to-Point connections, and Establishing Frame Relay Connections." The combined CCNA covers all topics covered under the ICND1 and ICND2.
