Common Admission Test CAT is a national level entrance exam for admission to MBA programs in the IIMs. It is conducted every year by any one of the IIMs. Eligibility for CAT: Bachelor degree program in any stream Final year of students of under-graduate program can also apply. There is no age limit for applying to CAT examination. CAT exam pattern- There will be 3 Sections in CAT 2016 Quantitative ability (QA) 34 Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) 32 Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VRC) 34 Total No. of Questions 100 Duration of the examination will be 180 minutes. Some questions in each section (Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning and Verbal and Reading Comprehension) may not be of multiple choice type. Candidates will be allotted exactly 60 minutes for answering questions in each section Three (3) points will be awarded for each correct answer One (1) point will be deducted for each wrong answer. CAT Syllabus- CAT English/Verbal Ability: Reading comprehension, verbal reasoning, syllogisms, analogies, antonyms and synonyms, fill in the blanks, sentence correction, idioms, etc. CAT Maths/Quant Ability: Number systems, geometry, trogonometry, probability, permutation combination, algebra, mensuration, time and work, averages, percentages, profit and loss, quadratic and linear equations, etc. CAT Data Interpretation: Interpretation and analysis of data based on text, tables, graphs (line, area), charts (column, bar, pie), venn diagram, etc. CAT Logical Reasoning: Clocks, calendars, binary logic, seating arrangement, blood relations, logical sequence, assumption, premise, conclusion, linear and matrix arrangement, etc. |
