Re: Vice President of India
The Vice-President of India is the second-highest constitutional office in India after the President. Article 63 of Indian Constitution states that "there shall be a Vice-President of India." The Vice-President acts as President in the absence of the President due to death, resignation, impeachment, or other situations. Venkaiah Naidu is the Vice President of India. He defeated UPA's candidate Gopalkrishna Gandhi on 5 August 2017 election. List of Vice presidents of India: Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (18881975) Zakir Husain (18971969) Varahagiri Venkata Giri (18941980) Gopal Swarup Pathak (18961982) Basappa Danappa Jatti (19122002) Mohammad Hidayatullah (19051992) Ramaswamy Venkataraman (19102009) Shankar Dayal Sharma (19181999) Kocheril Raman Narayanan (19202005) Krishan Kant (19272002) Bhairon Singh Shekhawat (19232010) Mohammad Hamid Ansari (1937) Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu (1949) |
