I have completed my engineering degree and planning to apply for the UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE). Will you please provide all basic details about UPSC ESE along with eligibility and qualification to apply also provide tentative dates to apply for this exam?

IES officers are selected by the union government on the recommendations made by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). A combined four-stage competitive examination (comprising six tests), called the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) is conducted by the UPSC for recruitment to the Indian Engineering Services UPSC ESE: Engineering Services Examination (Overview) Tentative Schedule Notification of Examination January/February Conduct of Examination June/July Categories of which recruitment is made through the Examination i. Civil Engineering ii. Mechanical Engineering iii. Electrical Engineering iv. Electronics & Tele-communication Engineering Age-limits 21-30 years on 1st August of the year of Examination. Educational Qualifications A degree in Engineering from a recognised university or equivalent. M.Sc degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as special subjects also acceptable for certain Services/posts only. Candidates appearing at their engineering degree or equivalent examination are also eligible to compete. Exam pattern: Paper I (Objective type) General Ability Test (Part A: General English) (Part B: General Studies) 200 Marks Papers II & III (Objective type) Civil Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Electronics & Tele-Communication Engineering 200 Marks for each paper Papers IV & V(Conventional Type) Civil Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Electronics & Tele-communication Engineering 200 Marks for each paper Total marks for written Examination 1000 Marks Personality Test 200 Marks |
