UPSC English Syllabus

Hi I am interested in having the information about the English language Paper for the Civil Service Main Examination as well as the detailed syllabs of the Examination?

The point of the paper is to test the competitor's capacity to peruse and comprehend genuine digressive composition, and to express his thoughts obviously and accurately in English.

The example of inquiries would be comprehensively as takes after :-

(i) Comprehension of given entries.

(ii) Precis Writing

(iii) Usage and Vocabulary

(iv) Short Essay

The syllabus comprises of two papers, intended to test a direct and basic perusing of writings endorsed from the accompanying time frames in English Leterature : Paper I : 1600-1900 and Paper II : 1900-1990.

There will be two obligatory inquiries in every paper : an) A short-notes address identified with the points for general review, and b) A basic investigation of UNSEEN entries both in exposition and verse.

Paper-I
Answers must be written in English.

Paper-II
